The Franklin Theatre
The Act Too Players (ATP), Williamson County’s premier training program for all youths interested in the performing arts will take the stage in May with the mounting of three musical productions: Once Upon a Mattress, Princess and the Pea, and Company. There will also be a Saturday morning performance of the play, Charlotte’s Web. The productions will run from May 9th through May 18th at the historic Franklin Theatre located in Downtown Franklin, Tennessee.
Theatre Arts Director Sondra Morton stated, “In January, the Act Too Players successfully produced three different children’s at the Franklin Theatre. We had a wonderful experience and we are looking forward to being at the Franklin Theatre for our May shows and for our summer camps.”
If you thought you knew the story of ‘The Princess and The Pea,’ you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that Lady Larken’s love for Sir Harry provided a rather compelling reason that she reach the bridal altar post haste? Or that, in fact, it wasn’t the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are you’ll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again.
This is performed by two different age groups.
Group M is 10-13 year olds.
Group T is 14-18 year olds.
