You’re invited to learn more about Williamson County and Tennesse history from author, Paul Clements. Paul will talk about his newest book Chronicles of the Cumberland Settlements, 1779-1796. He was able to edit and correct the history of the Settlements with the help of the newly discovered journal of Edward Swanson (found in 1980.) Edward Swanson was the first recorded settler in Williamson County who came to this area with General James Robertson.
Paul was born in Nashville and spent six years at BGA, graduating in 1965. While attending Peabody College, he became involved in coaching children’s athletics. A few years after graduating from Peabody, he became interested and mmersed in local history. His research led to several books. Between A Past Remembered (1987) and Chronicles of the Cumberland Settlements (2012), several local books were published, including Robert Inman – A Memoir and a Tribute, which was a work dedicated to the memory of a lifelong resident of Williamson County.
