How did we end up with these presidential candidates? Vanderbilt professor Marc Hetherington will try to help us figure out the election process and how exactly we got to presidential nominees Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump. Dr. Hetherington is Professor of Political Science at Vanderbilt University. He studies the American electorate, with a particular focus on the polarization of public opinion. Surely he’ll be able to give us some answers.
Two of Dr, Hetherington’s books are Why Washington Won’t Work and Why Trust Matters, which have won him praise and awards. In 2004, he was awarded the Emerging Scholar Award from the Elections, Public Opinion, and Voting Behavior section of the American Political Science Association.
