Historians debate the cause of explorer Meriwether Lewis’s death on the Natchez Trace in Tennessee on October 11, 1809 – did he commit suicide or was he murdered? Local attorney Tony Turnbow discovered documents in the Williamson County Archives that answer some of the questions that have troubled historians for over a century. On October 10, the eve of the 204th anniversary of Lewis’s death, Mr. Turnbow will discuss what is known about Lewis’s death and events taking place in Franklin on October 11, 1809. Join us to hear him in the first floor meeting room.
