The Act Too Players (ATP), Williamson County’s premier training program for all youths interested in the performing arts will take the stage in January with the mounting of the pop/rock musical production of SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD. The production will be January 22nd at the historic Franklin Theatre located in Downtown Franklin, Tennessee.
In SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD Jason Robert Brown says, “It’s about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.” These are the stories and characters of today, the SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD. Brown transports his audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge 57 stories above Fifth Avenue to meet a startling array of characters ranging from a young man who has determined that basket-ball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams and a soulless marriage. This is a two act musical with a Pop/Rock influence. There is only one performance on January 22nd.This production is Directed by Megan Chambers and performed by students ages 14-18.
(Two Act Musical, Revue, Pop/Rock)
