Enjoy daytime gym activities and a new walking club
Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce that the Academy Park Gym, located at 120 Everbright Ave. will now offer gym-based activities and a free walking club for seniors (55+), Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Williamson County Parks and Recreation director, Gordon Hampton, is excited about the new programs and options, stating, “Adding senior programs at the Academy Park Gym is another piece of our master plan for providing the very best in recreational activities for our growing senior population.” Hampton added that Senior Athletics Programmer Julie Wood will supervise activities which initially will include indoor games like shuffleboard, badminton, table tennis, and others. “We want to tailor our programs to meet the needs and desires of our area seniors,” he added, “so we want to hear their ideas about new activities.” The admission fee for gym use is $1 for seniors, or free with any WCPR pass.
A free walking club will also be formed, with group walks on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings. All activities are open to the public.
The Academy Park Gym is part of a campus which contains the new Williamson County Enrichment Center, Performing Arts Center, public library and Renaissance High School. The Academy Park campus also features a large multi-purpose playing field, as well as bocce ball and pickleball courts.
