👃🏼 This sweet young girl sustained a nasal fracture from a softball and had very significant nasal obstruction/difficulty breathing from the left side of her nose as a result. Her septum, the partition between the two sides of her nose, which is made up of cartilage and bone, was severely broken- causing it to protrude into the left side of her nose.
Not only did it cause breathing trouble, it also changed the appearance of the nostrils and base of the nose. You can see her septum jutting into the left side of her nose!
I was able to reconstruct and straighten her septum using special cartilage grafts and suturing techniques. She can now breathe well again and her cute nose looks just like it used to!
While I am a Facial Plastic Surgeon, I am also a board-certified ENT and Head & Neck Surgeon, which means I have a lot of experience treating complex nasal injuries and performing reconstructive surgeries, as well as cosmetic surgeries!
This was done through an “open approach”, through a tiny incision at the base of the nose. As you can see, the scar from her surgery is already hard to find after only 4 weeks!
I am so happy for her! She can now get back to enjoying sports and activities with clear nasal passages! 🥎
