Each year we plan a surprise Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt. When they were young, we’d get them in pjs, tuck them in bed, and wait about 3 minutes to play our train whistle, which they quickly learned was a night of hot chocolate, candy canes, and piling in the van for a Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt. Now that we have a 17 year old, things look a little different, but pjs, hot chocolate and the surprise train whistle are still a must!

To add a fun twist, we choose the best decorated house and leave a gift, (homemade cookies, a Christmas room spray, a box of candy canes, a gift card, etc.).

We learned a few tips in the past when we had young ones or kids that just HAVE to find everything….
-a house can have multiple items
-a neighbor can most definitely place a teddy bear on their front porch and it counts
-another neighbor can also find a picture on their phone of reindeer on a roof, or anything you’re missing, and show it to your family to complete 🙂

Do you want to join us in this fun tradition? Make a family or friends night of it! Download this picture and mark it off on your phone or grab a flashlight (your phone), pens and print the pdf version that is in my stories today. It’s also saved in my Christmas highlight.

Have a jolly ol’ time!
