Things that cause estrogen dominance:
π€ Progesterone deficiency
π€ Xenoestrogens (chemicals in self-care products that mimic the role of estrogen)
π€ Methylation issues like MTHFR and COMT gene variants, making it harder to metabolize estrogen via the 2-OH pathway
π€ Low B vitamins. B vitamins are methyl donors to estrogen metabolism
π€ Low testosterone. Even if your estrogen is considered βin rangeβ, if you have low testosterone in relationship to your estrogen level. These hormones have a yin and yang relationship.
Other things that contribute to estrogen dominance:
βοΈ Sluggish liver
βοΈ Constipation
βοΈ Over consumption of phytoestrogens (foods that contain chemicals that mimic estrogen
βοΈ Roundup (you know I had to mention glyphosate π€)
βοΈ Hormonal birth control
