We’ve been easing back in to farming this week after our annual holiday break. Today we completed the weekly harvest and accepted delivery of all the local meats and artisan goods to restock the farm store. We’re so excited to be opening back up tomorrow (Friday)!
The December cold snap was brutal on our crops – even in the protection of the high tunnels. We managed to save some lettuce heads and beds of artisan greens but, sadly, most other fall greens and herbs didn’t survive. We’ve never lost so many crops – especially so early in the winter season. We’ll be making investments in many more frost blankets this year. Wacky weather trends are here to stay, so growers everywhere are working hard to evolve and adapt.
