When caring for new trees here are some tips and techniques to keep in mind:
1. Use mulch, it is a newly planted tree’s best friend. Be sure to properly disburse the correct amount for the type of tree you planted!
2. Water your new trees for the first 2 years on a regular basis, the roots are trying to get established and that takes a ton of energy. Be sure to water properly to keep the soil moist, not soggy!
3. Keep weeds away, to avoid root competition.
4. Use supports if needed, if your tree needs additional support you can use strings and poles to support it.
5. Pruning, there are times to prune and times to avoid it, be on the look out for our next tips posts were we get into more on tree pruning!
